Don’t miss this month’s Libertarian Party of Orange County meetup where Tom Hanson will be speaking. His topic will be “The War on Video Games”. If you or your kids like to play, come learn about how our government wants to take that right away (rhyme intended).

If you don’t know Tom, he has been chair of the Libertarian Party of Orange County for two years and loves video games.

2012 November General Election Ballot Initiative recommendations

Once again another election season is upon us.  Aside from having to sift through the candidates, voters have to endure another form of hell, and that is sorting through the various ballot initiatives.  We are deluged with televisions ads about how a yes vote on Prop whichever will solve every problem, or a no vote will prevent the destruction of our civilization.  Watching football is hard enough with the constant ads for pickup trucks, beer, erectile dysfunction medication, and now the electile dysfunction ads. Our voter guide is merely that, a guide.  Vote as you see fit as always.  The officers of the LPOC as per our bylaws can only endorse an initiative with 2/3 consent, and there was not unanimous consent on Props 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, and 40 but enough to render a recommendation.  Continue reading→

Join the Libertarian Party of O.C. for a Meet Up tonight in Costa Mesa

Join the Libertarian Party of Orange County for their next meet up, tonight, September 11th from 7pm to 9pm, at Karl Strauss Brewery, located at 901 South Coast Dr., in Costa Mesa.  Traditionally ever 2nd Tuesday of the month they meet for an informal meet and greet. This is a great format to meet your fellow Libertarians or to learn about the Libertarian Party in an relaxed setting.

Tonight the O.C. Libertarians will hoist their drinks in honor of those who died tragically and needlessly 11 years ago on this day. Continue reading→

Voters at the Orange Street Fair choose Johnson and the Libertarian Party

Hundreds of voters found out their views are Libertarian-leaning when they stopped by the Libertarian Party of Orange County’s (LPOC) booth at the annual International Street Fair at the Orange Circle, in Orange, this LAbor Day weekend.

LPOC Chairman Tom Hanson was at the booth on Sunday, all day long.  He never lost enthusiasm even as he and his fellow Libertarian Party volunteers baked in the heat.  His mission was to educate Orange County voters about the Libertarian Party and the LP’s presidential ticket – former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson and internationally renowned drug reformer Judge Jim Gray – who resides here in Orange County, in Newport Beach. Candidates:

United States Senator:  The LPOC endorses Gail K. Lightfoot.  A lifelong advocate of fiscal responsibility and social tolerance.  With no less than FOURTEEN Republicans, six democrats, and two American Independent candidates available to vote for, this election redefines what splitting the vote means.  Other than Obama Birther Orly Taitz, none of the GOP candidates have much name recognition.  Lightfoot has more than a puncher’s chance of doing well here.  Show her some support!  Continue reading→

CSUF to spend $300 K on incoming President’s Mansion

If you ever needed a clue as to why public higher education is slowly dying in California heres a nice big obvious one. In an age with skyrocketing tuition and diminished class offerings, incoming Cal State Fullerton President Mildred Garcia, aside from enjoying a nice 10% pay increase over outgoing CSUF President Milton Gordon, and a yearly car allowance of $12,000. President Garcia will also enjoy the convenience of living in historic C. Stanley Chapman House, located just a scant few miles from campus. Hence the $12,000 dollar car allowance, because you know, gas is expensive now a days!

But all is not well with this arrangement. Sadly, the C. Stanley Chapman house is in disrepair. According to this report by californiawatch.org, CSU Fullerton will pay $300,000 to modernize and refurbish stately C. Stanley Chapman House to its former palatial opulence, to that which is befitting a campus president who is part of a public university system that advocates a tax increase in order to meet student needs.
