Per John Hrabe at California Political Review, State Senator Mimi Walters even beats the corrupt Sen. Ron Calderon in sucking freebies out of her supporters and constituents. Walters is termed out, and running for the 45th Congressional District against a number of declared candidates, including County Supervisor John Moorlach (whose campaign website is now up). State Senator Ron Calderon, the subject of an ongoing federal investigation has not yet been charged. But in documents filed last month in federal court, he said the raid of his offices came after he refused FBI requests to wear a recording device and act as an informant against Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg of Sacramento and Sen. Kevin de Leon of Los Angeles, both fellow Democrats, according to the O.C. Register.

The speaker stripped the challengers of their committee chairmanships and removed them from their choice offices. Continue reading

Although the FBI has remained mum on the investigation, reporting by the Los Angeles Times has indicated that it centers around a political consulting contract that the Commerce-based Central Basin Municipal Water District had with Tom Calderon, the brother of state Sen. Ron Calderon, D-Montebello, and uncle of Assemblyman Ian Calderon, D-Whittier. Continue reading
