As the slates and mailers roll out, Newport Beach Councilman Keith Curry won’t be hiding from his past recommendations for TAX HIKES in support of Jerry Brown’s Bullet Train (Chris Reed has a terrific piece here about the Browndoggle).
The images here will be hitting the 74th Assembly District next week, as Curry’s opponent, Emanuel Patrascu, keeps reminding him how he and his firm, Public Financial Management advised the High Speed Rail Authority to pursue “a 5-cent increase in the statewide gas tax could raise more than $770 million a year over 35 years,” according to an April 1996 issue of The Bond Buyer.
