Legislative Analyst Finds CA Motorists Paying Higher Prices at the Pump
SACRAMENTO: Senator Bob Huff (R-San Dimas) issued the following statement in response to findings from California’s Independent Legislative Analyst that California motorists are paying more for gasoline because it’s been added to the state’s cap and trade program.
“This is essentially a hidden tax of 11 to 13 cents per gallon that California motorists never approved,” said Senator Huff. “I didn’t agree with this $2 billion tax when gasoline was administratively added to California’s cap and trade program. I even authored legislation, SBX1 2, which would have directed this money to fixing our roads, highways and bridges. I believe that this tax, and all of our transportation tax money, should be invested into our transportation infrastructure instead of directing it to other areas of the state budget.” Continue reading
