The race for the 74th Assembly District heated up as former GOP funder and activist Howard Ahmanson attacked RINO candidate Keith Curry with a mailer. But Ahmanson also ripped into Democratic candidate Anila Ali – actually quoting an article I wrote a few months ago, in another mailer that also touted former Republican Karina Onofre.
It was a rough day for Karina Onofre, the former Republican now running as a Democrat for the 74th Assembly District. She sent me a press release this morning, consisting of an “open letter to Shelly Stirling,” but before I could post it I discovered that TJ Simers, the famed sports columnist who used to work at the LA Times but now writes for the OC Register, had stumbled across Onofre’s ads in his paper – and Simers let her have it.
Then, this afternoon, came word that former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer had purchased the Clippers for $2 billion dollars. You can bet that Ballmer won’t be heeding Onofre’s plea to move the Clippers to Orange County. Ballmer, a resident of Seattle, will surely move the Clippers to the Northwest to replace the dearly departed Seattle Supersonics, who we now call the Oklahoma Thunder. Continue reading

Karina Onofre State Assembly Candidate calls for Task Force to bring LA Clippers to Orange County!!!
74th State Assembly candidate Karina Onofre announces formation of a broad-based task force to immediately prepare a proposal to bring beleaguered LA Clippers to a new Orange County home
IRVINE – California State Assembly candidate Karina Onofre called to form a blue-ribbon committee to lure NBA Clippers basketball franchise from Los Angeles to Orange County. Said Onofre, an Orange County business owner and Democratic candidate, “Without any delay, I want to bring together a creative, think-outside-the-box Orange County active community team, to turn today’s problems into possibilities for tomorrow’s success.”
Continued Onofre, “I believe the Clippers are an up-and-coming franchise and have the potential to advance far in the NBA Playoffs. But shocking revelations about Clippers’ owner, Donald Sterling, who talked about the color of people’s skin rather than the team players’ character, winning-mentality, skills, or talents, have hurt the team, hurt Los Angeles, and hurt California. Imagine the immense benefit to bring the Clippers to a new Southland home, in Orange County?!!! If they accept our invitation, originating out of respect and admiration for the team, this will be monumental -especially if the OC Clippers decide to call Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, or the East side of Huntington Beach -all within our 74th Assembly District, their new home!!! Did we learn anything about the candidates running for the 74th Assembly District when they debated at the first “Feet to the Fire” forum last Thursday? The event was sponsored by the Daily Pilot, the Orange County Register and Voice of OC, and featured what turned out to be a pretty lame panel, that included Voice of OC Editor-in-Chief Norberto Santana Jr., Register and Daily Pilot columnist Barbara Venezia, Daily Pilot editor John Canalis, Register columnist Jack Wu and Daily Pilot City Editor Alicia Lopez.
The candidates at the forum included several Republican candidates: RINO Newport Beach Councilman Keith Curry; Huntington Beach Mayor Matt Harper, who talks conservative but acts otherwise; Emanuel Patrascu, district director for Assemblyman Travis Allen; and two Democrats – small business owner Karina Onofre and public schoolteacher Anila Ali.
