It is legal to run for the House of Representatives as a carpetbagger and that is exactly what Yorba Linda City Councilwoman Peggy Huang is doing. She is running for the GOP nomination in the 45th Congressional District, which includes much of the City of Irvine, even though Huang lives in Yorba Linda, which is in the 39th Congressional District.

If she was smart Huang would not make an issue of this but instead she launched a video on her Facebook page touting the fact that she used to tale the train to her job in Los Angeles, where she was working for the California Office of the Attorney General.

Lots of folks take the train to L.A. from Orange County but why in the world would Huang take the train from the Irvine train station, as depicted in her video, when she lives in Yorba Linda? That makes no sense as she lives much closer to the Fullerton Train Station, and a few other stations such as the ones in Anaheim and in Santa Ana.

Huang is running for the House seat that is currently held by Katie Porter, a former UCI Professor who defeated another carpetbagger, former 45th C.D. incumbent Mimi Walters (who lives in Huntington Beach).

Another Republican in the race for the 45th, Mission Viejo Councilman Greg Raths, actually lives in the district, unlike Huang. Inexplicably however a number of prominent local Republicans are piling onto Huang’s team.

I can’t imagine why Irvine voters would waste their vote on a carpetbagger from Yorba Linda.
