The Republican nominee for the 73rd Assembly District, Bill Brough, won the lottery in June. Well not really but he practically did by edging out a crowded field of Republicans who included Jesse Petrilla and Anna Bryson.
The 73rd A.D. is a red district – the Democrats don’t have a great shot at winning it. But that didn’t stop Brough and his campaign from making a very chump move this week.
Brough’s Democratic opponent, Wendy Gabriella, a professor at Irvine Valley College, went to a lot of trouble to book a campaign reception at a restaurant called Stillwater, in Dana Point. The event was slated for Sep. 14. Everything was set to go and the invitations had gone out to Gabriella’s supporters when all of a sudden the management at Stillwater canceled the event – making up some ridiculous excuse about a cooler going down.
