Republican gubernatorial candidates Neel Kashkari and Tim Donnelly will be debating live at The Ayres Hotel, located at 2550 E Katella Ave., in Anaheim, on Thursday, May 15th @ 4:00 PM. Seating will probably be limited. They’ve announced that the 6pm hour will be open for audience questions.

Donnelly aide works with unions vs. GOP candidates

A top aide to a Republican candidate for governor is working with public employee unions to defeat Republican candidates in local elections.
Asher Burke, who assists Assemblyman Tim Donnelly’s gubernatorial campaign with “social media and online creative,” is also a principal officer of Public Safety Advocates, a political campaign committee working to defeat Republican-endorsed candidates in San Diego County.
According to campaign reports filed with the County of San Diego Registrar of Voters, the campaign committee has accepted tens of thousands of dollars from public employee unions, including the Deputy Sheriffs Association of San Diego County, the San Diego Police Officers Association and the Peace Officers Research Association of California.
Those funds are going to support Bob Brewer, who is running for San Diego County District Attorney. The Republican Party of San Diego County has endorsed Bonnie Dumanis, the incumbent, who has been outspent by Brewer. Continue reading
By now we should be used to ridiculous actions by Republican candidate for California Governor Tim Donnelly. But he reached a new low when he posted on Facebook Monday:
BREAKING: Neel Kashkari supported the United States submitting to the Islamic, Shariah banking code in 2008 when he ran TARP.Shariah is “the seditious religio-political-legal code authoritative Islam seeks to impose worldwide under a global theocracy.”
This revelation is spreading fast, as people like Anita Gunn refer to Mr. Kashkari’s support of Shariah an “October Surprise.”
California gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly is turning out to be quite a train wreck! “For all his talk of “getting government out of the way,” Donnelly has repeatedly voted to keep government in the redevelopment business, which property rights advocates describe as “a noxious combination of crony capitalism and bureaucratic control,” according to John Hrabe at Cal News.
“Redevelopment agencies have been the biggest abusers of homeowners’ property rights in California,” Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, said in a 2011 press release. “Immediate action is needed now and we urge all legislators, including Republicans, to reject the influence of politically connected developers and do what is right for ordinary California homeowners.”
But, Donnelly ignored the advice of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, voting twice to keep redevelopment agencies. In March 2011, Donnelly voted against SB 77, the precursor to ABX1 26, which ultimately eliminated redevelopment agencies. Continue reading

Per the LA Times yesterday (outside paywall here), Republican Gubernatorial candidates Tim Donnelly and Neel Kashkari are scheduled to debate each other at the Ayres Hotel in Anaheim on Thursday, May 15th. KFI-AM 640’s John and Ken Show is hosting a remote broadcast.
Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown has reportedly been invited, but it’s doubtful he would attend. Laguna Hills Mayor Andrew Blount has removed himself from the Governor’s race, citing health issues. Blount has also been rumored to be using his campaign to promote a software product he’d developed.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly is out with another campaign video, a bilingual message about returning prosperity to California that features actress Maria Conchita Alonso and a tiny sweater-clad dog named Tequila, according to the L.A. Times.
It is a pretty ridiculous video but while I don’t agree with Donnelly’s past work heading up the California Minutemen he is right about the mess the Democrats have made of California. Continue reading
