Choi teams up with Shea and Schott for victory in Irvine

Irvine Council Member Steven Choi announced today on Facebook that he is “happy to announce that I’ve formed Team Irvine with Christina Shea and Lynn Schott. We’re united for victory in Irvine. Steven Choi for Mayor, Shea and Schott for City Council.”

Choi is running for Mayor against longtime Agranista Beth Krom, who got spanked in 2010 when she ran against U.S. Rep. John Campbell. In that election Krom got only 34.6% of the vote, while Campbell racked up 60% of the vote, according to Smart Voter. Continue reading→

Will the Great Park’s budget fiaco sink Krom’s and Kang’s campaigns?

Great Park Neighborhoods developer Heritage Fields El Toro is seeking to more than double the number of homes surrounding the Orange County Great Park, according to the Voice of OC. They also reported that “the developer is proposing to build 10,700 residential units, far more than the 4,894 units already approved by the Irvine City Council. The developer would reduce the area dedicated to nonresidential uses to mitigate the impacts of the new homes.”

Why did the Great Park’s Board of Directors vote to greatly increase the number of homes at the Great Park? Simple. Developer Fees. And you can bet that some of those fees will find their way back to Great Park Board Member Beth Krom’s campaign for Irvine Mayor, and Irvine Council Member Sukhee Kang’s Congressional campaign. Don’t forget that Kang is a member of the Great Park’s Board, and Krom is their Board Chairman. Continue reading→

Beth Krom for Mayor of Irvine? Are you kidding?

Irvine Mayor Pro Tem Beth Krom is running this year for Mayor of Irvine – and her campaign website is completely laughable. All it shows is a full length picture of a haughty Krom making some kind of fish face, with a caption below “It’s Official! Beth Krom for Mayor of Irvine 2012.” Wow – talk about hubris!

I think the OC Weekly’s R. Scott Moxley put it best, “Could there be more of an embarrassment to Orange County Democrats than Beth Krom, the Irvine city councilwoman who doubles as chairwoman of the Orange County Great Park board?” Continue reading→
