Deborah Pauly is willing to challenge labor, unlike sell-out Todd Spitzer

Orange County’s Third Supervisorial District candidates Todd Spitzer and Deborah Pauly will be facing off on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at a debate sponsored by the Orange Republican Women Federated meeting at 6:30 pm, at the Foxfire Restaurant. It’s a reception event and the cost is $15 per person. The Foxfire Restaurant (off 91) is located at 5715 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road, in Anaheim Hills. Supervisor John Moorlach endorses Troy Edgar for the 72nd A.D.

Did Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach endorse Los Alamitos Council Member Troy Edgar for the 72nd Assembly District? That is apparently the case. Edgar announced that endorsement at the 72nd A.D. candidates’ debate last night.

Updated: Supervisor Nguyen using her CalOptima seat to raise campaign funds

UPDATE: Supervisor Janet Nguyen may be up to her old tricks again. In the past she has used anonymous surrogates to do her dirty work, including buying URLs similar to those used by her political opponents, and redirecting them to nasty sites. Now an anonymous letter has been sent to the CalOptima board of directors Thursday accuses two board members — Chairman Ed Kacic and Mary Anne Foo — of improprieties, allegations both strongly denied, according to the Voice of OC. And it turns out that Kacis is only trying to help the community:

Kacic, president of the Irvine Health Foundation, said his organization belongs to the Managed System of Care, a group that includes the CEOs of all Orange County hospitals, the county Health Care Agency, the Veterans Administration, CalOptima, clinics, major medical groups and business interests. Updated: Deputy who shot Marine Sgt. Loggins named

Updated: The deputy who shot a Camp Pendleton Marine in the San Clemente High School parking lot Feb. 7 has been identified by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as Darren Sandberg, according to the O.C. Register.

Why did an O.C. Deputy kill a father in front of his kids, in San Clemente?

On February 7, an Orange County deputy, in San Clemente, still unnamed, fatally shot an unarmed former Marine Sergeant named Manuel Loggins, in front of the latter’s children while all three of them sat in the Marine’s car, according to Reason.

I am sure that the case will be made that the deputy had no choice, but why do we allow our police officers to resort to lethal force, against unarmed Americans - including those who appear to be in mental distress? Continue reading→
