The Progressives of South Orange County are hosting Douglas Applegate, Candidate for the 49th Congressional District at their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at Agostino’s Ristorante Italiano, located at 34700 Coast Highway, in Capistrano Beach.

They were hoping for a debate but Rep. Darrell Issa declined their invitation. Colonel Applegate has accepted and they look forward to a lively discussion for what is shaping up to a close race and an important contest both locally and nationally. Continue reading→

Anaheim City Councilman Jordan Brandman finally comes out of the closet

Anaheim City Councilman Jordan Brandman has finally come out of the closet, admitting in a public statement “that he is gay and “found personal happiness” with a man he started a relationship with about six weeks ago,” according to the O.C. Register.

Political observers have wondered about Brandman’s orientation for years given that his bios and Facebook page consistently avoided mention of any romantic entanglements.

We always felt it was dishonest for Brandman, who is a Democrat, to stay closeted given that many of his supporters are staunch Republicans who in many cases supported Prop. 8 - the anti gay marriage ballot measure. Continue reading→

ANAHEIM COUNCILMAN JORDAN BRANDMAN NECK AND NECK AT TOP OF FIELD IN QUARTERLY REPORT

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Anaheim City Councilman Jordan Brandman announced today that he reported $116,297 in funds received between July 15th and September 30th — all available for the 2016 primary election. Beating expectations by a wide margin, he is neck and neck with Joe Dunn, who raised $120,674 in primary election funds. In addition, Brandman out-reported perceived frontrunner Lou Correa by $50,795 and Bao Nguyen by $62,567 in primary election funds.

“I’m humbled by and grateful for the overwhelming support my campaign for Congress has received. What we raised this quarter — much of it in smaller donations — demonstrates how strongly the residents of the 46th Congressional District want a born and proven fighter to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Brandman. “Clearly, we need a member of Congress who knows how to get results. Why Quirk-Silva and Solorio lost in the 2014 General Election

Orange County Democrats were ecstatic when former Fullerton Mayor Sharon Quirk-Silva knocked off Chris Norby in 2012, in the 65th Assembly District. They partied hard but the party is over now that former Ed Royce staffer Young Kim has trounced Quirk-Silva in the 2014 General Election.

This was not a casual loss for the Democrats. It may well end up costing them their super majority in the State Assembly - an uncertain matter as several Assembly seats are still in close contention.

Make no doubt about it - retaining the 65th Assembly District was the major goal of the Democratic Party of Orange County in the 2014 General Election. They failed - and there are several good reasons for that. Continue reading→

Don’t vote for Traut unless you like carpetbagging liberals!

Though an experienced field of elected officials have pulled papers in the Centralia School District, the first person to do so was 20-year-old Chapman University student Connor Traut (D) who moved to Anaheim a few months ago from Ladera Ranch, where he was a member of the Ladera Ranch Civic Council. Traut is an acolyte of Anaheim Councilman Jordan Brandman (D). (Brandman allies seem to be popping up in different Anaheim school board seats, as D.R. Heywood (D) has pulled papers in the Anaheim City School District.)

Traut dug himself into a deep hole when he released the flier above this post. It features three community icons including Michael Buss, Carol Latham and Shirley McCracken - all of whom are currently not happy with Connor. Buss reportedly spoke with Connor today and blasted him. Traut’s response was “sorry that flyer was sent out by mistake.” Right. We must call BS on that! Lathan and McCracken were supposed to be contacting Traut today.

We hope the residents of the Centralia School District will not be impressed by a young carpetbagger who is already angering community leaders with his actions. There are three seats open on the Centralia School District and five candidates running, including Traut. Candidates we prefer to Traut include:
