Endorsement Demonstrates Early Strength of Correa’s CA-46 Bid
SANTA ANA, CA— Demonstrating his potent force in the race for California’s 46th Congressional District seat, today former State Senator Lou Correa collected a major statewide endorsement from California’s State Treasurer John Chiang.

State Controller John Chiang sent letters Wednesday to nine cities and 117 special districts, chastising them for failing to file timely financial reports with his office as required by law, according to the Sacramento Bee.

California State Controller John Chiang today announced that the cities of Milpitas and Morgan Hill illegally tried to convert hundreds of millions of dollars of real estate, cash and investments that were required to be turned over to the State of California after Governor Jerry Brown and the State Legislature passed Assembly Bill 1x 26, terminating all municipal redevelopment agencies to help cover a $25 billion budget shortfall. Before the Controller’s audits, the state had collected less than $400 million of the $3 billion they expected from the state’s 400 community redevelopment agencies. CALIFORNIA BUDGET CRISIS MAY TORPEDO TAX INCREASE INITIATIVE

State Controller John Chiang shocked California legislators today when he sent a letter announcing that the State will run out of cash on March 8th without the legislature agreeing to allow the State Treasurer to delay $2.4 billion in payments to universities, counties and Medi-Cal, plus borrowing another $3.3 billion from Wall Street bankers.
The Controller’s announcement comes just two weeks after California Gov. Jerry Brown gave his State of the State speech to the combines Legislature, then immediately hit the road in a two-day campaign swing through Southern California to tout his November ballot initiative to raise taxes on all Californians. At a stop with 50 of Orange County’s top business leaders and CEOs, the Governor outlined how he was already making severe budget cuts, reorganizing state government, and implementing a 12-point pension reform plan. Brown said he offered these actions as credibility before asking business to support his November tax initiative. Continue reading
