After the Redistricting, AD72 has new faces to deal with — former Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor who’d represented much of the old District was forced south and is now running for the 74th District. After a successful Primary, Mansoor will easily be re-elected to his second term. The 72nd District now comprises Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Westminster and pieces of Santa Ana, Huntington Beach and Garden Grove. Continue reading

t’s a truth that Americans understand, almost instinctively. The little things are what really matter. Most people won’t reveal a character flaw in something huge for obvious reasons. But that same person tells a lot about himself if you have the chance to see how he behaves in little things.
It’s important to know how a man behaves in the little things because that same man will also have some big things to deal with. If he fails us in something small, it’s likely just an annoyance. But if he fails in something big, that’s a different story. So we need to know what a man’s character is before we give him the keys to something big. Continue reading
It Matters Who Governs

Four little words. But they are filled with both history and potential.
It matters that Carter was elected in 1976. It matters even more that Reagan was elected in 1980. It matters that Al Gore lost in 2000. It matters that Marco Rubio, Mike Lee and Allen West went to Washington in 2010. The same significance present in the last 35 years applies in 2012 and beyond. It matters who governs. It always has. The newly drawn California District 47 is an open seat due to redistricting from the 2010 census. This new District includes the following cities: Avalon, Cypress, Garden Grove, Lakewood, Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Signal Hill, Stanton, Rossmoor and Westminster.
There are two old Republican dinosaurs running in the open primary for the 47th. Gary DeLong is now serving his second term representing Long Beach’s 3rd District. Steve Kuykendall served in the United States House of Representatives from 1999 to 2001 representing California’s 36th Congressional District. Both of them are anything but vital.
