Special Workshop Set June 10 to Forecast County Finances

The Orange County Board of Supervisors will convene a special meeting on Friday, June 10, at 9 a.m. for a public workshop to discuss the County’s strategic financial plan and evaluate County finances beyond the coming fiscal year.

“As we look toward adopting a new Fiscal Year 2016-17 budget in June, it makes sense to discuss some additional forecasting so we have a better sense of what longer-range resources will be available,” Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Lisa Bartlett, Fifth District, said. Continue reading→

Grand Jury Report on OC Animal Care Flawed

An Orange County Grand Jury report released today criticizing management and operations at OC Animal Care was based in part on unsubstantiated allegations.

“It is our belief that the report in its totality does not accurately reflect the current OC Animal Care program or the commitment of all County staff and our volunteers to the humane treatment of animals,” County Executive Officer Frank Kim said.

Frank Kim Takes Helm as New County CEO

Mike Giancola Honored for His Leadership and Service

(Santa Ana, CA) — The Orange County Board of Supervisors welcomed new County Executive Officer Frank Kim to his first official day on the job after unanimously ratifying his contract and honoring outgoing CEO Mike Giancola.

Kim becomes the 11th county administrative officer since the position was created in 1967.

He was County Budget Director for five years before being named Chief Financial Officer in 2013. Continue reading→

Frank Kim Selected as Incoming OC County Executive Officer Effective May 12

Mike Giancola Honored for His Leadership and Service

(Santa Ana, CA) — The Orange County Board of Supervisors today announced that Chief Financial Officer Frank Kim will assume the duties of County Executive Officer, effective May 12, following the Board’s ratification of Mr. Kim’s contract.

Will Spizter stop Giancola from appointing Denny as the temp OC CEO?

County Chief Operating Officer Mark Denny might not get appointed as acting CEO next month when County CEO Mike Giancola goes out on medical leave, according to the Voice of OC.

You might recall that Denny got busted once for election fraud, in a scheme engineered by Curt Pringle, as we reported in an earlier post.

Giancola wanted Denny to cover for him while he is out on medial leave but “Orange County officials have engaged a private attorney to review the actions of Chief Operating Officer Mark Denny and other top officials to propose potential disciplinary measures following a scathing internal audit report that revealed nearly a million dollars in questionable, no-bid consulting contracts for professional services at OC Parks while Denny was agency director,” according to the Voice of OC.
