Orange Lutheran High School completed a facilities upgrade in 2014 for $15 million. Now the Orange Unified School District is asking voters to approve Measure S, a bond measure, that will provide $72 million per high school for similar upgrades. What gives?
Orange Lutheran is over 40-years old and enrolls 1,300 students. The 1-year-long upgrade and expansion project was funded with $5-million in school reserves, $5-million in financing and $5-million in donations. It added 40,000 square feet, ripped up floors, added technology upgrades, new furnishings, a comfy place for students to hang out with couches, flat-screen TVs and a coffee-juice bar …the works!
