Bustamante’s supporters, Campbell and Nguyen, delay OC CEO Mauk’s fate

“After several hours in closed session Friday, Orange County Supervisors took no formal action on the fate of County CEO Tom Mauk in the wake of criminal charges being filed against a former county manager for sexual assault,” according to the Voice of OC.

Supervisor John Moorlach told the L.A. Times that ” Mauk’s performance evaluation had been continued to July 24.”

The O.C. Register reported that: “Mauk’s head wound up on the chopping block because of concerns among some of the supervisors over how he and Carl Crown, then the county’s human resources director, handled an investigation into Bustamante’s treatment of female employees after anonymous accusations were made in August 2011.” Continue reading→

Buena Park Councilman Oh, a Republican, charged with perjury

A Buena Park City Council Member has been charged with repeatedly committing perjury on California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) documents to avoid paying child support to his ex-wife. Sangjin Miller Oh, 48, is charged with six felony counts of perjury by declaration and faces a maximum sentence of six years and four months in state prison if convicted. Oh will be arraigned on the charges at a later date to be determined, according to the Orange County District Attorney.

Oh’s Facebook friends are a Who’s Who of Orange County Republicans, including Deborah Pauly, Todd Spitzer, and Don Wagner. He has a few Democratic pals too, including Huntington Beach Council Member Joe Shaw and State Senator Lou Correa. Continue reading→

Spitzer’s mailer rips Pauly for her husband’s DUI arrest in February

Todd Spitzer’s campaign sent out a mailer absolutely shredding his sole opponent, Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly. The mailer is totally brutal and very well designed (by Jim Bieber). According to Bieber, the mailer was sent to Republican voters in the 68th Assembly District, although Spitzer is running for the overlapping Third District on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

The hit piece reminds voters about a wild night Pauly had last year. The OC Weekly reported that “on the night of February 5, when Pauly and her husband, James, enjoyed a night out at Mr. Stox in Anaheim. James drove down Katella Avenue and into a Orange Police Department DUI checkpoint run by Officer Armando Plascencia, the Wilt Chamberlain of DUI arrests in California. To evade the checkpoint, James swerved into a driveway, crashed his Porsche onto the curb, and got stuck.” Continue reading→
