Irvine Mayor Don Wagner has prevailed over his Democratic challenger for the Third Supervisorial District, Loretta Sanchez, by a vote of 41.8 % to 37.1%, according to the O.C. Voter Registrar. While they have not yet finished counting all the ballots at this point Wagner’s lead is insurmountable.
Why the Democratic Party of Orange County thought Sanchez was a good candidate is a very good question. Sure, she served in the House of Representatives for many years - but it was a safe blue seat that includes most of Santa Ana and parts of Anaheim and Garden Grove.
The Third Supervisorial District includes most of Irvine, Anaheim Hills, Villa Park, Orange and a few other communities - but it most definitely does not overlap with Sanchez’ old House district (except for parts of Anaheim and Orange).
Sanchez was also a total train wreck when she lost to Kamala Harris a couple years ago when they ran for the U.S. Senate, here in California.
Sanchez quite simply is not very bright and is in fact rather embarrassing. You never know what ridiculous statement will come out of her mouth.
Hopefully this loss will convince Sanchez to retire from politics altogether.
Welcome to the party, anyone with a brain has been saying this for 20 years, “Sanchez quite simply is not very bright and is in fact rather embarrassing.”
One of the things that did Sanchez in was the voter outreach attempt BACKFIRED.
Note to Ada and friends, you can not send barely understandable, immigrants into Villa Park, with brochures that say “Medicare For All” and touting progressive talking points which they could not even articulate and expect to win.
Ironically, there is a corollary to Lou Correa’s defeat, where Andrew Do thumped him because he was baited into using Alex Flores as a mouthpiece. Loretta used failed candidate Phil Jancowitz (the CD39 candidate who’s own campaign manager sent a photo of Miley Cyrus being sodomized by Jesus Christ (Yes, the moron DID do that).
Wagner is more in tune to the district and the blue tide is already showing signs of receding.
