RSCC District Chancellor Raul Rodriguez
From the RSCCD Faculty Union Newsletter
In 2010 when Raul Rodriguez signed his contract to serve as the RSCCD chancellor, he was provided a “relocation allowance” of $2500 per month. (Section 8, page 2 of the contract). The taxpayers of our community have paid this amount to the Chancellor for the past seven years totaling close to a quarter of a million dollars!
When will the relocation expense end? It certainly doesn’t take seven years! How much does it cost to relocate? Why should the District continue to pay the Chancellor a relocation allowance while the colleges are cutting programs and employees are losing their jobs?
FARSCCD leadership contacted the seven members of the Board of Trustees on this issue and other than Trustee Phil Yarbrough, no one else responded.
This is one more example of the elected trustees’ failure to provide oversight. And here is another one:
Orange County Education Center
Built at a cost of over $20 million from 2002 Measure E Funds, the Orange County Education Center was shut down and deemed inhabitable days after passage of the $198 million Measure Q Bond in 2012.
It has been estimated that it will cost $26 million to repair OEC. Chancellor Rodriguez failed to inform voters and bond companies of the problems with the OEC at the same time he was soliciting votes for Measure Q.
Rodriguez has a track record of improperly managing bonds. His board at San Joaquin Delta College was cited by the Grand Jury for wasting millions of dollars in bond funds. Where is the Board of Trustees’ oversight?
“deemed UN-inhabitable” ? But if dysfunction is THAT bad, perhaps I’m off base ! lol.
