It is turning out to be an awful night for the Democrats as the execrable Hillary Clinton appears to be losing to her Republican challenger, Donald Trump. Meanwhile here in Orange County the early results are in and top Democratic challengers Sharon Quirk-Silva and Josh Newman appear to be losing in their respective legislative races. Here is a rundown of the top early results thus far:
- Ling Ling Chang is leading Josh Newman by over 5,000 votes in the 29th State Senate District.
- Asm. Young Kim is holding on to her seat, leading Sharon Quirk-Silva by about 1,000 votes in the 65th Assembly District.
- Former Asm. Don Wagner is handily defeating Agranista candidate Mary Ann Gaido by about 5% of the vote in the race for Irvine Mayor.
- Republican City Council Woman Christina Shea is leading a large pack of candidates for the Irvine City Council but the runner-up is Democrat Melissa Fox. The top two candidates will win. Fox is way ahead of the third place candidate, Shea’s ally Anthony Kuo.
- Odious Lake Forest City Councilman Adam Nick is losing but the results are still very close
- Horrible Mission Viejo City Councilwoman Trish Kelley is winning while conservative Cathy Schlict is losing.
- The mouth-breathing voters in Fountain Valley chose to raise their own sales tax, via Measure HH, and reelected the City Council Members who have led the city to near-bankruptcy - Steve Nagel and Cheryl Brothers.
- Westminster Mayor Tri Tra is destroying his 100-year old opponent Margie Rice.
- Mostly bad news in Anaheim where Pringle cabal candidates Jordan Brandman, Lucille Kring and Steve Faessel are winning. The only good news is that Denise Barnes is leading in the race for District 1, over Pringlista Steven Chavez Lodge. We endorsed Barnes!
- Kimberly Ho is leading a pile of candidates for the Westminster City Council despite claims about her address
- Loretta Sanchez could not even win Orange County, where her opponent Kamala Harris is winning by 15% of the vote
- Lou Correa is trouncing his liberal opponent Bao Nguyen in the race to replace Sanchez in the 46th Congressional District
- U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa is destroying his opponent, Doug Applegate
- John Moorlach and Steven Choi are cruising to victory in their Legislative races
Wow! This election cycle is crazy. It appears as if AV city council is giving the Dana Point council a run for its money for being in the “swamp.” AVwatchdog.com is lighting up the airwaves in Aliso Viejo. It appears the revenge of the Jedi (Phil) has made its presence known. Dave, payback is a bi**h….that’s what happens when you file a FPPC complaint.
