The OC GOP is about to get pummeled in the upcoming November General Election, thanks to their party’s horrific Presidential nominee, Donald Trump. But the party machinery is still going through the motions. This week the OC GOP’s Endorsement Committee and Central Committee made a few truly awful endorsements, as detailed by the OC Political Blog, here and here.
Probably the worst of their endorsements was that of Fountain Valley Councilman Steve Nagel, who was a Fountain Valley firefighter from 1977-2005.

Fountain Valley Mayor Steve Nagel (on the right) and Friends
Nagel signed the No New Taxes pledge after voting to put a sales tax increase on the November ballot a month before. He told the OC GOP Central Committee that “his city has its back against the wall because the state took local money. He says the city reserve will be depleted in three years. He says it is cheaper to maintain FVFD and FVPD rather than outsourcing to OCFA and Sheriff. He says there is a three-tiered pension for FVPD and two tiers for everyone else. He says Westminster has its back against the wall as well. He says the Council is nonpartisan, so he cannot always vote the party line.”
Don’t forget that Nagel violated the No New Taxes Pledge. He also voted for a 20-year, no-bid contract for trash collection, with automatic increases. Nagel also opposed contract transparency and he opposed placing the Form 700’s online.
But the OC GOP endorsed Nagel even though all of his opponents are also Republicans. He sure looks like a RINO (Republican in Name Only) to us!

Lucille Kring
The OC GOP Central Committee also endorsed:
- Curt Pringle stooge Don Wagner, who is running for Mayor of Irvine
- Anaheim City Councilwoman Lucille Kring for District 4 of the Anaheim City Council. Kring is another Pringle stooge, who voted for a resolution in favor of Measure S, the Orange Unified School District bond. But she opposes the bond in the Anaheim Elementary School District. She also supported the TOT hotel subsidies and the white elephant ARTIC train station. She also lied in 2012 telling the OC GOP Central Committee that she would not support TOT hotel subsidies. And she accepted $10,000 in union money when challenging the re-election of the sitting Republican mayor.
The OC GOP is likely going to lose several legislative seats in November. And if they keep endorsing awful local candidates they are going to get trashed in a few local races as well.
Nagel is a real piece of work. Spends his time soaking the taxpayers and spinning yarns at free lunches. Shows up at Council meetings with his holier than thou routine as he yucks it up with his cronies who do the bidding of City Employees. The guy has got to go.
The city has its back up against the wall because they handed over the checkbook to the cops and…fire unions.
