Chapman University President, James L. Doti, Endorses Loretta Sanchez for the U.S. Senate
Orange, CA – Today, Chapman University President, Dr. James L. Doti, endorsed Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez for the United States Senate. Dr. Doti states she is the best candidate suited to address education and the economy.
“I am incredibly proud of our alumnus, Congresswomen Loretta Sanchez, who has always represented both her district and Chapman University with the highest esteem,” said Dr. James L. Doti. “As the founder of the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research, I am confident in Congresswoman Sanchez’s ability and knowledge of the economy and am sure she will make the best decisions to promote economic growth in California. Indeed, she was one of my best students in the classes I taught her at Chapman in economics and statistics. In addition to being naturally gifted, she worked hard and diligently, not unlike how hard she has worked as a public servant.”
“As an educator, I know Loretta will always fight for students’ access to higher learning and ensure that California schools are the best in the country. For these reasons, I am proud to endorse Loretta Sanchez to be California’s next U.S. Senator,” stated Dr. Doti.
Dr. James L. Doti has been the president of Chapman University since 1991. His expertise is in economics, having received both his masters and doctorate degrees in economics from the University of Chicago.
“I am extremely proud of Dr. Doti’s endorsement. It is an honor to be endorsed by the president of my alma mater,” said Representative Loretta Sanchez. “As Senator, I will continue my fight to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to receive a higher education. As a Head Start kid myself, and a product of public schooling, I know the importance of education and will ensure that all California communities receive the necessary resources so that every child may be successful.”
Loretta Sanchez believes that investing in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education is essential to preparing our students and teachers for global competitiveness. She has voted for the Every Student Succeeds Act, which was a landmark piece of legislation that reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The bill included additional funding to recruit and train STEM teachers, as well as increased pay for STEM teachers.
