GREG CONLON ANNOUNCES RUN FOR U.S. SENATE
(Palo Alto, CA) – Greg Conlon has officially qualified for the ballot as a candidate for the United States Senate. Conlon is seeking to replace Senator Barbara Boxer following her retirement, which marks the first time this Senate seat has been open in over two decades.
A recent internal campaign poll of more than 4,000 respondents showed Conlon in a statistical tie with the Attorney General Kamala Harris, the leading Democrat in the race. The poll showed Harris at 35%, Conlon at 32%, and no other candidate above the 10% mark. 21% of voters were still undecided. The poll was taken in mid-February, weeks before Conlon had qualified for the ballot.
Conlon’s campaign platform has three primary objectives:
1. Reduce the size of government and balance the Federal budget each year by reducing the administrative work force in Federal agencies and not replacing retired employees. The nation needs to do this to avoid a financial collapse and to protect its bond rating with a national debt of over $20 trillion.
2. Solve immigration issues by strengthening our borders, enforcing the terms of visas legally issued to foreign citizens and reducing all Federal funding to sanctuary cities. The nation needs to solve these issues to prevent crime, avoid losing desirable high paying jobs and to reduce the cost of supporting illegal immigrants’ health care.
3. Create private sector jobs and stimulate the economy by reducing the income tax rate for businesses and individuals. Businesses and individuals need to be able to keep more of their hard earned dollars instead of handing that money over to the government. The economy should be growing at a much quicker pace, and that can only happen if we allow people to reinvest their own money as they see fit, instead of the “government knows best” tax policies that exist today.
Greg Conlon is a businessman, CPA, attorney, and former Air Force Pilot. In addition, Conlon served as a Commissioner and President of the California Public Utilities Commission, as well as a Commissioner on the California Transportation Commission. Conlon was also partner at an international accounting firm, serving clients as a CPA and business consultant. Conlon’s experience in both the private and public sectors give him a unique understanding of the economic challenges facing our Country, and what it takes to effectively serve the public and underrepresented groups like our Veterans. Conlon was the Republican nominee for State Treasurer in 2014, garnering nearly three million votes.
