Everyone is invited to attend the Fountain Valley Strategic Planning Meeting, on Thursday, 10/29/15, from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center, Park View Room A, located at 16400 Brookhurst Street, in Fountain Valley.
Be sure to arrive on time – a bit early is best. Fountain Valley City Council members, City staff, and department heads will attend.
- Since City matters are being discussed, should this meeting be held at Fountain Valley City Hall?
- Should this meeting be recorded since the City Council, Planning Commission, and Crossings Project meetings are?
- City staff has a tremendous influence on FV City Council, is it appropriate for them to weigh in and shape future City policies?
Will the $7,000 Fountain Valley is paying a outside fascinator to lead this Strategic Planning event pay off for the City? If is conducted right and problem goals are identified for Brainstorming and solution idea generation then I would say, yes.
First thing, this is an important Strategic Planning meeting where the City is soliciting significant improvement ideas from City Council members, Department Heads, and it’s Citizens. It is important enough that it should be recorded so as not to lose anything said that could be a great idea for the City to follow-up on.
It is a City Government function and although it may seem as being informal it should still be conducted as such a City function and in the City Hall, the City Council Chambers.
If the spirit of this Brainstorming meeting follows the concept that there is no limit on free thinking, there is no bad idea and it is set up by the Leader to encourage participants to have an open mind toward change. Also, It’s participants should be encouraged to be allowed to build on the ideas voiced again and again until a good idea is visible then, this will be a worthwhile effort.
