Bill will improve California’s education system for all California students
SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Travis Allen’s (R-Huntington Beach) Assembly Bill 943, which ensures that every child in California has access to any and all of the best education opportunities available, will be heard on Monday, August 17th in the Senate Committee on Appropriations.
“In order to address the academic needs of California’s students, every aspect of the California education system must be represented; not just the narrow focus of special interests that may not understand that public schools’ sole mission must be to educate our children,” said Assemblyman Travis Allen. “Every child in California has different opportunities and needs. California’s children deserve the best educational experts with proven track records in improving academic outcomes and providing the highest quality education.”
Existing law established the CCEE to hire contractors to advise, assist, and audit school districts, county superintendents of schools, and charter schools in achieving their educational goals. AB 943 would require a CCEE contractor assigned to a charter school to have experience, specialized expertise, and a record of success in working with charter schools to improve student success rates. This will further ensure that the state is providing the best resources to our local schools to help them excel in providing education for California students.
“California, once a nationwide leader in education, is currently ranked 46th in the nation. I am committed to fixing California’s broken public school system so the next generation of Californians has the best possible opportunities to achieve their potential,” said Assemblyman Travis Allen.
