Senator Moorlach Issues Statement on Budget Signing
“As a CPA, I wouldn’t recommend that any business operate like this”
(Sacramento, CA) – Senator Moorlach (R-Costa Mesa) responded to today’s formal signing of the 2015-16 California state budget by issuing the following statement:
“I applaud Governor Brown for rejecting the legislature’s appetite for higher spending. He is wise in preferring a more conservative revenue forecast. But, we should all be concerned that the budget only pays lip service to the hundreds of billions in debt and unfunded liabilities that California has accrued between 2002 and 2012.”
“As a CPA, I wouldn’t recommend that any business operate like this. The Governor and Legislature must seriously address this cloud hanging over future generations and more aggressively attack our debts. Pulling California out of the bottom rung of states should be a top priority.”
