Senator Stone’s resolution calling for a nuclear-free Iran passes Senate 28-0
(Sacramento, CA) — A resolution authored by Senator Jeff Stone (R-Riverside County) supporting a long-term solution for peace and security in the Middle East, including a nuclear-free Iran, passed the California State Senate on Thursday, June 18, with wide bi-partisan support.
Senate Joint Resolution 6 calls for any agreement signed with Iran to include on-going international oversight and Iran’s cooperation in maintaining transparency with its nuclear ambitions.
“Iran has proven time and time again that it can’t be trusted,” said Senator Stone. “Iran’s actions have proven they do not live up to their words.”
The resolution calls on the President of the United States and other leaders in Washington, D.C. to seek peace and security in the Middle East and to thwart the efforts of Iran to develop nuclear weapons that would threaten that region and the world.
