The Anaheim Police Association and the Peace Officers Research Association of California have announced their 2014 General Election Local Endorsements.
PORAC has also made their state legislative endorsements available here. Here in Orange County they have endorsed:
- Sharon Quirk-Silva, AD 65
- Tom Daly, AD 69
- Tony Mendorza, SD 32
- Jose Solorio, SD 34
- Pat Bates, SD 36
PORAC’s Congressional endorsements are available here. Here in Orange County they have endorsed:
- Linda Sanchez, CD 38
- Darrell Issa, CD 49
They appear to have rejected longtime incumbents Ed Royce and Loretta Sanchez, as well as Dana Rohrabacher.
PORAC’s statewide endorsements are here. It looks like they rolled with all the Democrats, including:
- GOVERNOR — Jerry Brown
- LT. GOVERNOR — Gavin Newsom
- ATTORNEY GENERAL — Kamala Harris
- CONTROLLER — Betty Yee
- INSURANCE COMMISSIONER — Dave Jones
- SECRETARY OF STATE — Alex Padilla
- SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION — Tom Torlakson
- STATE TREASURER — John Chiang
- BOARD OF EQUALIZATION – District 2 — Fiona Ma
Predictably PORAC and the Anaheim Police Association are rolling with the Pringle slate in Anaheim’s City Council races and are sticking with Bruce Broadwater in the Garden Grove Mayoral race. They are also endorsing liberal Democrat Doug Chaffee in the Fullerton Mayoral contest.
In Santa Ana they have rejected the City Council majority candidates, David Benavides and Michele Martinez, as well as their colleague Roman Reyna, who is running an ill-fated race for Mayor against longtime incumbent Mayor Miguel Pulido. Reyna has been rejected by every law enforcement association in Orange County after he was caught posing with hard core gang bangers in a picture that turned up on Facebook.
It is my understanding that PORAC represents all the police agencies in California except for the Anaheim Police Association and the SAPD.
