Sigh. Elections are supposed to be about choice — except this one. The mud slinging continues and we don’t believe either of these people knows a thing about Proposition 13, much less how to count that high.
Nguyen’s endorsement by the OC Tax Payers Association is a red flag — they’re just another collection of political wannabes and hangers-on that has no authority to do a thing. Mayor-for-Hire Curt Pringle still runs the group, assisted by tax, toll and high-speed rail advocate Big Lucy Dunn of the OC Business Council.
OC Weekly had this to say about them: Is the Orange County Taxpayers Association Ripping off Taxpayers?
OC Tax also opposed Allan Mansoor’s Toll Facilities Bill — “AB 2036 would authorize any new toll facility in Orange County only if approved by a 2/3 vote of the total county electorate.”
That article in the OC Weekly should be titled “Is Denis Bilodeau Ripping of the Taxpayers” and don’t you have anything bad to say about the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association?
Valid question…HJTA is our only REAL tax fighting organization in CA, and I have a lot of respect for Coupal. But I don’t know how their endorsement of Nguyen came to pass. Unless some money changed hands (not above Janet at all) or Jon is fearful of the Dems maintaining their super majority in the Senate (the standard GOP line that’s a little too black helicopter for now), he should’ve stayed out of this race. Nguyen’s advertising now that she’s never raised a tax which HJTA would aupport, but I’ll bet no one’s looked into her record in Garden Grove. We’ve also never seen her fight for a tax to go away. My bottom line is that endorsement don’t mean all that much — and an inappropriate one reflects back on the endorser more than the candidate.
I don’t know that HJTA sells its endorsements, but who knows.
