SUPERVISOR JANET NGUYEN FAILS TO VOTE FOR ETHICS STANDARDS – AGAIN
Nguyen Is Only Supervisor & Only OCTA Board Member To Abstain On Vote
SANTA ANA – Orange County Supervisor and OCTA Board Member Janet Nguyen, once again failed to support any form of ethics standards by abstaining from an OCTA vote yesterday on an Code of Conduct that applies to Board Members and employees.¹
“Supervisor Nguyen has developed a pattern of either voting ‘no’ or ‘abstaining’ from any votes relating to ethics for elected officials and government employees,” observed Jose Solorio, former State Assemblyman and candidate for State Senate. “Which part of OCTA’s Code of Conduct does she disagree with? The limit on gifts or favors, the prohibition of workplace harassment, or is it the relationship with contractors and use of OCTA assets? She can’t keep skipping out on these types of votes and expect to hold the public’s trust,” Solorio continued.
The OCTA Code of Conduct includes clauses such as business conduct, nondiscrimination, relationships with contractors, conflicts of interest, and incompatible activities. The code had support from both Republicans and Democrats on the OCTA board.
Supervisor Janet Nguyen has also continued to disregard the Orange County Grand Jury’s call for county ethics reform.² You can go to www.solorioforsenate.com/#! radio-ads/c1czy to listen to a recent “ethics” radio ad regarding Supervisor Nguyen.

Janet Nguyen – ethics standards Lol yeah right. Don’t hold your breath.
BTW None of the links provided above work.
Thanks. I will fix that.
It shouldn’t surprise anybody, if you look at her record she either is absent or abstains. A wasted seat to the people she is supposed to represent!
Art – I haven’t looked at this blog in awhile, and you say your mission is against mindless cheerleading and the government piggybank. So what’s with posting this puff piece press release for Solorio?
Nguyen is no prize, but Solorio has expressed support for the extending Prop. 30 taxes, for the high-speed rail boondoggle, and for “attracting” companies to California (read: more crony subsidies) rather than reducing regulation. Also, while the Grand Jury didn’t address Solorio’s Rancho Santiago Community College District in its recent expose (see http://www.ocgrandjury.org/pdfs/2013_2014_GJreport/TrusteesReport.pdf) on Trustee management neglect and expense abuse, rumor has it that Solorio’s District is the worst of the lot.
So what give with ads for tax and spend Democrats?
I really dislike Janet Nguyen. It’s personal. When I ran for the Santa Ana City Council I asked her to stay out of the race. She was supposedly a friend. 2 days later she endorsed Carlos Bustamante. Well you know by now how that turned out.
I haven’t endorsed Solorio either but I hope Janet loses.
