Huff Applauds Final Vergara Ruling
Says Ruling Should Prompt Reforms to California’s Unequal Public School System
Sacramento – Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) today issued the following statement in response to the final L.A. County Superior Court ruling in Vergara v. California:
“This final ruling by Judge Treu reaffirms the simple truth that too many children, especially children of color from low-income families, are being systematically denied the quality education they are entitled to. There’s no escaping that this ruling provides a much needed and long overdue spotlight on the inherent inequalities of our public education system.
“It’s the responsibility of the California State Legislature to enact the reforms needed to assure equal education opportunities for all of our students. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Legislature, in both parties, to create a new, bi-partisan foundation for public education that put the needs of our students first.”
