Even though they write that Senate Bill 370 is flawed, the Left Angeles Times came out in support of our one-party legislature’s plastic bag ban this morning: Will California lawmakers finally ban single-use plastic bags?
Their editorial begins with a factually unsupported screed re. how dangerous they are:
Single-use plastic bags — the kind with handles that you get, or used to get, at the grocery store — are an environmental menace. They end up draped across trees and shrubbery in wilderness areas, and are the second most common item of trash found on the state’s beaches. From there, they find their way into the ocean, where they join giant patches of soupy plastic garbage.
Jon Fleischman has a good take on this today at the FlashReport: Deceiving California: Replacing One Plastic Bag With… Another Plastic Bag.
We’ve had plenty to say about the various bag bans, and especially the one passed by the lunatic liberals in Huntington Beach. A state-wide ban is another hit on our simple freedom to conduct our own business as we wish.
As of Saturday, I’m no longer an LA Times subscriber — but I’ll bet my house that the LAT on my driveway tomorrow is wrapped in a plastic bag.
