California’s Pro-Choice Majority on the Ballot in 2014
San Francisco, CA – Amy Everitt, State Director of NARAL Pro-Choice California, praised California voters for electing NARAL Pro-Choice California’s PrivacyPAC-endorsed candidates during the June 3 primary election.
“Now that the primary elections are behind us, we know what the November races will look like,” said Everitt. “While we have the opportunity to protect and expand the pro-choice majority in California, we are also at risk of losing pro-choice seats.”
Despite sweeping victory in the primaries, NARAL Pro-Choice California reminds its supporters that alongside pro-choice candidates, extremely anti-choice and anti-equality candidates were also elected. “The conventional wisdom on the top-two ignored the power of the Republican minority,” said Everitt.
NARAL Pro-Choice California will be mobilizing its member-activists to ensure that the pro-choice majority in Sacramento is protected and expanded. “Anti-choice candidates should be on notice that voters will know where they stand on reproductive freedom and making personal medical decisions,” explained Everitt.
