With our Stop the Dock Tax effort winding down, I have been asked about the candidates in upcoming election for State Assembly.
Stop the Dock Tax cannot support Newport Beach City Councilman Keith Curry for Assembly.
It has been brought to my attention that Curry says he has signed a “No New Tax Pledge.” This contradicts his record in Newport Beach as a big-tax city councilman.
Curry was a leader in pushing the 350% Dock Tax increase, tax hikes on commercial marina operators, and increased taxes on Harbor businesses – all in the depths of a recession.
Curry is the architect of the city’s massive $228 million debt for the Taj Mahal costing us $22,000 a day for the next 30 years, including $225,000 for the bunnies, and $1,000 for designer desk chairs by Herman Miller.
He championed our $142.5 million Taj Mahal and personally attacked me and anyone that challenged his excessive spending by calling us a “a small cadre of mediocre critics.”
After serious thought and review of Curry’s record, Stop the Dock Tax will donate $2,000 to Emanuel Petrascu for Assembly.
Curry’s style of big government is bad enough here in Newport – we can’t afford it in Sacramento..

P.S. I would encourage you to donate to Emanuel Petrascu’s Assembly campaign by clicking here. Emanuel’s family fled the Romanian totalitarian regime in the 1980’s and settled in America. He understands freedom and limited government.
