Martin Wisckol
OC Register political reporter Martin Wisckol is at it again. This time he is going after Long Pham, a Republican candidate for the 34th State Senate District. Wisckol wrote this in his latest post, “Pham runs for office nearly every election. The Fountain Valley resident, has won once out of nine tries, a four-year term on the Orange County Department of Education Board in 2008. When he filled out the Register’s voters guide for his failed 2006 bid for state Assembly, he wrote that his Ph.D. came from Madison University.”
Pham runs for office nearly every election? Couldn’t you say that about OC Supervisor Janet Nguyen too? She is also a candidate for the 34th and has been perpetually in office for years, since getting elected to the Garden Grove City Council in 2004. Don’t forget that previous to her election Nguyen worked for two OC Supervisors – marking her time in politics a lengthy span indeed.
And does it really matter where Pham got his doctorate degree? He also put himself through school when he earned a bachelor’s degree at Penn State. U.S. News & World Reports’ “2014 Best Colleges,” released Sept. 10, ranks Penn State as 8th among public national universities and 37th among all national universities.
Nguyen has a political science degree from UCI which was ranked #62 by U.S. News & World Report. So Pham has a higher quality college education than Nguyen does – although Wisckol ommitted that from his article, of course.
So why is Wisckol hacking for the perpetually corrupt Nguyen? That is a very good question that somebody at the O.C. Register needs to ask.
What really matters is Mr Pham’s lie about the school where he got his Ph.D. as being a classified fact. Schools are not things that get classified. I know because I worked for over three decades on various classified programs. The real question is why did Mr. Pham lie and is this someone that voters can trust to represent them?
