Capitol Comment with State Senator Bob Huff
Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) highlights the agreement on a prison plan between Republican Leaders in the Assembly and Senate, the Governor and the Assembly Speaker in his Capitol Comment for the week of August 26th, 2013.
The Governor earned Republican support for a plan he unveiled earlier this week by incorporating a number of Republican proposals that were forwarded to the Governor’s Office last April. The plan, which is designed to prevent the early release of ten thousand hardened criminals in state prison, provides for new bed space, rehabilitating and reopening closed prisons and sending prisoners to other states where prison overcrowding is not an issue.
Senator Huff also reveals that the Democrat Senate President Pro Tem is vowing the block the Governor’s plan, over several policy objections. The State Legislature has two weeks to pass the Governor’s plan before it adjourns for the year.
Senator Huff serves as the Senate Republican Leader and represents the 29th Senate District covering portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Follow Senator Huff on Twitter @bobhuff99. Visit Senator Huff’s webpage at www.sen.ca.gov/huff.
