After getting thoroughly beat up (quite undeservedly in our opinion) by his City Council over the last few months, Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait is beginning his re-election campaign a bit early it seems with a significant Fundraiser this week. It was also a surprise to see Lucille Kring‘s name on the Host Committee given the hand grenade she left in his lunchbox last week when she stiffed his Assistant out of a raise paycheck.
Tait’s support is bi partisan and varied, because common decency is not limited to any one political party. His message resonates with people across the board, and his appeal is actually growing. The more the Council majority kicks him in the teeth, the more people want to stand with him. The attack of the Curt Scouts is backfiring!
Speaking of attack, when reporting on the issues regarding his staff funding, the issue has been sadly misrepresented. You mention stiffing his assistant out of a raise, I think Voice of OC characterized it as an attempt to increase funding. It was neither. Tait was simply asking to have funding for his staff RESTORED to the levels it had been for the last decade. Tait’s work load has not decreased in any way, the City is not scraping so hard for budget dollars that we cannot afford to pay his ONE part time staffer. Nope, the ONLY budget item those self-serving jerks bothered to cut in the entire $1.5 billion budget was Tait’s Policy Advisor, reducing her budget to what the other Council aids are allocated (with less work load) simply to cut him down to their level.
It is a shame that they had to make an innocent City employee a pawn in their sick little game, and I hope that something gets worked out soon to resolve this, but in the grand scheme of things this last play was REALLY bad for the majority. It is not getting a lot of press, but for the few residents I have spoken with who did hear about it, they are furious at “leaders” jerking around with a family’s financial stability to make a political point. It is mean, it is petty, and it shows them to be exactly who we all feared. Folks do NOT like this, not one little bit, and while I am sure his staffer takes cold comfort in this, they are going to have some explaining to do with voters. Eastman and Murray are up for re-election with Tait. Tait is a lock to retain that seat. Eastman and Murray face plummeting political stock, and they can both kiss the GOP goodbye too.
Go Tom. I am glad to see such a broad sampling of Anaheim standing with him for this fundraiser.

Fing Propaganda Minister! What is wrong with you?
The more I kick Editor in the teeth the more his reputation grows also.
