The Orange County Board of Supervisors is going to have to pick someone to replace the current Orange County Clerk-Recorder, Tom Daly, as he won in the 69th Assembly District’s General Election, on Nov. 6. Daly is now going to be representing the most Latino Assembly District in Orange County.
So who should replace Daly? Vote in our poll (above) and let us know what you think!
My personal inclination is that it would be great to see a Libertarian like former Assemblyman Chris Norby in this role as he could undo the wasteful spending that has been Daly’s modus operandi.
But an experienced hire like Hugh Nguyen, who used to be an Assistant to the Clerk-Recorder prior to Daly and who currently is an Assistant to the O.C. Clerk to the Board of Supervisors, would be a great hire. In fact he has the support of many in the Title industry here in Orange County.
The worst choices, in our estimate, would be political hack Dick Ackerman, a former State Senator who is currently a lobbyist, or Renee Ramirez, who currently assists Daly. And hiring Jordan Brandman, who was just elected to the Anaheim City Council and who used to work for Daly, would be a nightmare that would only lead to more cronyism.
Personally I would like to see this office become one that is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and is not put up for election.
