Travis Allen has stunned his opponent, Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar, polling 5.9% ahead in this closely contested race. The contest is one of the most competitive in Orange County.
Veteran pollster Adam Probolsky linked his survey results via a Facebook post early this evening. His weekend poll included both land lines and cell phones, and was directed at over 300 likely voters who had previously participated in elections in 2008, 2009 or 2010. Importantly for this District, the poll was conducted in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Allen shows a solid, 5.9% advantage over Edgar, but nearly half of the households reached were also undecided, or refused to voice a preference.
These results are especially impactful as Edgar placed first in the June Primary, 8.1% ahead of Allen:
Candidate Allen has obviously gained significant ground since June, not only erasing Edgar’s lead, but taking a substantial one of his own.
Edgar won’t be pleased with this poll, which perhaps accounts for the contentious Los Alamitos Council Meeting just last night. “Councilwoman Gerri Graham-Mejia says the mayor is the ‘biggest bully’ she’s ever encountered” reported the Los Alamitos Patch.
