AUHSD board member asks for INVESTIGATION into Brandman
By: The Save Anaheim Blog
At last nights AUHSD board meeting, trustee Katherine Smith asked that the board “start an independent investigation” into the allegations that Jordan Brandman used AUHSD facilities for his personal use following in impassioned plea that the issue be agendized by Amin David.
David alleges that Brandman used district resources for his personal and business use. David also beliese that district employees knew that district resources were being used for personal, business, and/or political use by Brandman.
AUHSD President Anna Piercy asked if there “was a second person who would like to agendize the item.” After a pause, and to the shock of everyone in attendance, Trustee Bryan O’Neal stated “I think it would be pertinent to put it on the agenda so we can discuss it.”
What I find particularly interesting is that Piercy has already confirmed the story to Save Anaheim. Piercy told me via a phone call this week that Brandman has used AUHSD board facilities for personal use in the past. Adding that Brandman brought his personal laptop to work on various projects at the AUHSD board facility.
Why didn’t Brandman use the AUHSD computer that was available to him in the board room?
The bigger question is. Why didn’t Piercy bring this issue to the board, if she knew all along that Brandman was using AUHSD facilities for personal use?
Here is the text of David’s public comments:
Board members, Supt. Novack and Cabinet:
In the name of the people the AUHSD serves, we request, under provision of the Education Code section 35145.5 that the following be placed on the board’s agenda:
INVESTIGATION OF TRUSTEE ABUSE
The integrity of the system is at stake…

Editor’s Note: The OC Politics Blog broke this story on August 29, 2012 – but at the time Smith was not yet on the record and had not yet brought this up to her fellow Trustees.
Brandman is a candidate for the Anaheim City Council. He is backed by Disney and SOAR.
