Did you know that Anaheim City Council candidate Jordan Brandman spoke at a recent Anaheim City Council meeting – in support of the $158 million hotel bed tax giveaway that his allies, Council Members Gail Eastman, Kris Murray and Harry Sidhu voted for.
Today at a meeting of the Anaheim-based civil rights organization Los Amigos, Dr. Jose Moreno, a respected Trustee at the Anaheim City Unified School District (ACUSD) brought up the subject in order to ask Brandman, who is a Trustee on the Anahyeim Union High School District’s school board, to resign from that seat and remove himself from the City Council race, according to an inside source.
Even worse for Brandman, the issue is not going away. A citywide Town Hall Meeting is going to be held on Feb. 13, at: Saint Anthony Claret Catholic Church, located at 1450 La Palma Ave., in Anaheim. Refreshments & Registration 6pm to 6:30pm. Meeting 6:30pm to 8:pm. Rsvp: email@example.com or call (818) 863-7238
Brandman’s allies on the City Council might think this is a settled issue, but folks are already talking about recalling them! And now of course they have had it with their fellow Democrat, the useless Brandman.
Conservatives should be upset about the tax giveaway too. It amounted to corporate welfare, for wealthy developers. And the subsidy undercut established hotels in Anaheim – while taking money out of city coffers that could have been used for public safety and other city services.
According to the OC Weekly, “the discourse could shift beyond the deal, to those who approved it. Council members Eastman and Murray, both Advisory Committee members of SOAR with their vote being consistent with the organizational position, alongside Sidhu, did face folks vowing to recall them, which if ever made good upon as a political consequence for their actions would be the second such move taken against a council trio after Fullerton is already well on its way.”
