Why Aliso Viejo Mayor Carmen Cave was fired by the City of Menifee

Aliso Viejo Mayor Carmen Cave was dismissed from her position as community development director for the City of Menifee shortly before the July 4th holiday, according to the Aliso Viejo Patch.

Interim City Manager Rob Johnson let her go Tuesday before the City Council meeting Tuesday, July 2, he said. “It was a business decision to make the change,” Johnson said, according to the Press Enterprise.

The City of Menifee’s website still lists Cave as their employee, on this page.  And she is still referring to herself as a Meniffee employee on her Linkedin page.  However there is no reference to Menifee on her Facebook page.

Cave was doomed as far back as September of last year, when Wallace Edgerton, who at the time was running for Menifee’s District 3, said at a candidates’ forum hosted by the Menifee/Perris Valley Democratic Club, that “he had seen on the campaign donation forms of Sue Kristjansson and mayoral candidate Darcy Kuenzi “money coming from Laguna Nigel, Newport Beach, places all over,” according to Menifee 24/7.

Edgerton urged voters to elect him to a District 3 council seat, Greg August in District 1 and Scott Mann — a former council member — as mayor.  They won – after running on an anti-developer platform.  They now form a majority on the Menifee City Council.

Make no mistake about it.  Cave was fired because developer money came in from out of town, in last year’s Menifee Council races and that gambit lost when the anti-development candidates won.  Why?  Simple.  The people of Menifee are tired of worsening traffic and dwindling resources.

Now the people of Aliso Viejo need to can Cave too, for the same reasons.

Art, it has more to do with her having a relationship with someone she supervises, I’m sure. She’s dating someone who also works for the city. Brings him to City events, etc. Not very discrete. Bad judgement on her part, don’t you think?

    • Oh my. I don’t know anything about that but generally that is a very bad idea.

Oh come on people… Do you honestly believe that they just started dating since they are living together and the ink is barely dry on either of their divorce papers.

It’s the Great American Pastime to cheat…
