Joe Dovinh, a moderate Democratic business owner and member of the Garden Grove Planning Commission, has announced that the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association Local 3631, has endorsed his candidacy in the 2012 Primary Election for 72nd Assembly District. The Democrats in Orange County got ripped off badly by former DPOC Treasurer Kindee Durkee, so as you might imagine they are having to hit the fundraising trail hard. Here is a run-down of their upcoming events and fundraisers:

I have known since March 15, that Brett Barbre, a member of the Metropolitan Water District’s Board of Directors, has been assisting Republican Troy Edgar’s campaign for the 72nd Assembly District. I thought nothing of it as Barbre is a campaign consultant, but the folks at the Red County blog are having a fit over this.
Their angst is due to the fact that Barbre is also a lobbyist with Athens Services, with regard to trash hauling and street sweeping services – and Edgar, as a Los Alamitos Council Member, got caught up in a lawsuit involving the granting of the Los Alamitos waste hauling contract to a company that donated to his Council campaigns, Consolidated Waste Management. While many of us know that Orange County’s Little Saigon area was settled by thousands of Vietnamese families, after the fall of Saigon, in Vietnam. Dovinh is holding the event this Monday, March 19th, from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Dang Crabs is located at 13030 Harbor Blvd., in Garden Grove. Continue reading
In fact he got lucky this week when the California Secretary of State announced the results of her randomized alphabet drawing for candidate order on the June 5 open primary ballot. Allen will be listed first on the ballot and Edgar will be dead last, behind fellow Republican Long Pham, who resides in Fountain Valley. Continue reading
We broke the news yesterday that Huntington Beach businessman Travis Allen, one of several Republican candidates for the 72nd Assembly District, apparently donated to various Democrats over the past few years, including this year. But it turns out he is not the only shaky Republican candidate in this race. Los Alamitos Councilman Troy Edgar, as it turns out, is a Republican now, but from 2002 to 2006 he was a registered Democrat, according to the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
Allen may have contributed to Democratic campaigns, but he has been a Republican since at least 2002. (The O.C. Voter Registrar does not post candidates’ registration records prior to 2002). Continue reading
