Moorlach vs. Villaraigosa in 2014?

It looks like Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach, a Republican who leans Libertarian, is considering a run for California Governor in 2014, according to the O.C. Register.  Click here to read Moorlach’s official bio.

If he does run it is very likely that Moorlach will face off against current Los Angeles Mayor Antonio “Tony” Villaraigosa, a Democrat who was being considered as a replacement for Ray LaHood, as Obama’s next Transportation Secretary, until he announced that he intends to finish his mayoral term.

Moorlach versus Villraigosa will present quite a contrast to the voters.  Villaraigosa, a former community organizer, served for years as the Assembly Speaker.  Moorlach was the guy who called the O.C. bankruptcy, which was caused by another Democrat, Bob Citron – who Moorlach ultimately replaced as O.C.’s Treasurer-Tax Collector.

Democrats are also talking about running Villaraigosa as a vice presidential running mate to Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Villaraigosa divorced from his long-suffering wife Corina in 2007, after he got caught having an affair with a Latina TV reporter named Mirthala Salinas.  In 1994, he separated from Corina, who had been battling thyroid cancer.  She then filed for divorce after Villaraigosa had an affair, according to the Mercury News.

The Democratic Party chose Villaraigosa to chair their national convention last summer, according to Fox News, in a bid to convince Latino voters to support President Barack Obama, who doubled deportations of Mexican immigrants, as compared to his predecessor, George W. Bush.

Villaraigosa is not done with Latino outreach.  I am also hearing though that he is running around recruiting Latino Assembly candidates for 2014 – and that he is even looking for a Latino to challenge his fellow Democrat, Tom Daly, in the 69th Assembly District in 2014.

Villaraigosa has just about bankrupted the City of Los Angeles.  We can only hope that Moorlach will take him out and prevent him from becoming our next Governor!

Newsome and Haris are the likely choices.

Gain has warmed up to skipping the Gov and going straight to Washington in DIFI’s place.

She has reportedly looked for some assurances to let this happen.
