Assemblywoman Kim Says Budget Deal Shows Majority Party’s Misplaced Priorities
SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Young Kim, R-Fullerton, today responded to the vote on the budget deal between Governor Brown and the majority party, saying the plan failed to address the important priorities like improving California’s schools and speeding up the construction of new water storage.
“Despite record spending, this budget falls short of our obligation to public education,” said Kim. “As long as the Legislature caps the reserves on school budgets, our students and teachers are going to be the first ones hit in the next economic downturn. My Republican colleagues and I have fought at every turn to lift the reserves cap, but the majority party has sided with special interests over the interests of our students and local school boards.” Continue reading
