83-year-old Westminster Mayor Margie Rice finally retired this month – but she is already seeking to un-retire. When Tri Ta won this year’s Westminster mayoral race, his seat became available on the Westminster City Council. And Rice wants back in.

After the Redistricting, AD72 has new faces to deal with — former Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor who’d represented much of the old District was forced south and is now running for the 74th District. After a successful Primary, Mansoor will easily be re-elected to his second term. The 72nd District now comprises Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Westminster and pieces of Santa Ana, Huntington Beach and Garden Grove. Continue reading
Termed-out Assemblyman Jose Solorio surely didn’t work this hard to elect Joe Dovinh during the 74th Assembly District’s open primary – but he is pulling out all the stops to help State Senator Alan Lowenthal, the Democratic nominee for the 47th Congressional District.
Solorio will be appearing with Lowenthal in Little Saigon tomorrow, ostensibly for his “Capitol in your Corner event,” but he is really going to be trying to drum up support for Lowenthal. Here is Solorio’s press release: Continue reading
Chris Nguyen, over at OC Political, wrote a very complete analysis of the election results in the 72nd Assembly District, where two Republican candidates, Travis Allen and Troy Edgar, will face off again in November.
Nguyen analyzed the vote in each city in the 72nd and found that Edgar and Allen were in the top two in the Cities of Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach,
and Rossmoor. Edgar also came in second in the City of Garden Grove. Continue reading
