U.S. Representative Loretta Sanchez lost her campaign money in the Kinde Durkee scandal – but it may not matter. Her new 46th congressional district “encompasses most of Santa Ana, parts of Garden Grove, Anaheim, Westminster and Fullerton. Previous drafts of the maps gave the area, which is home to Disneyland and a heavy population of immigrants, a slight Republican edge,” according to the L.A. Times. The district is 45 percent Democrat and 32 percent Republican, according to the O.C. Register.
And the “latest maps, keep the Latino voting population nearly the same as in her current district, but edge out some of the Asian American voters by splitting Little Saigon.” Not to worry if you are a Vietnamese American voter in the O.C. I hear that Congressman Dana Rohrabacher is going to retire in a couple of years. His new district includes a big chunk of Little Saigon. It is quite possible that the seat will end up being represented by a Vietnamese American some years down the road. Continue reading
They say that personalities win in today’s political environment and if that is true then Todd Spitzer probably has a leg up on the competition, in his race for Orange County’s 3rd Supervisorial District, which is currently represented by squishy Bill Campbell. But I hope that the voters will take the time to really look at what the candidates stand for. In the case of Spitzer, the news is not good for those of us who value freedom and fiscal conservatism.
Cal WatchDog Columnist Steven Greenhut nailed Spitzer, when Chuck DeVore suddenly announced he was dropping out of the race for the 3rd District, to move to Texas. Here are a few choice excerpts from Greenhut’s post: Continue reading

Recruitment Begins for County Auditor-Controller
(Santa Ana, CA) — The Orange County Board of Supervisors has initiated the recruitment process to select the County’s next Auditor-Controller.
The Board is seeking candidates to replace David Sundstrom, who is resigning January 31 to become Auditor, Controller, Treasurer and Tax Collector in Sonoma County. Specific educational and professional qualifications for Auditor-Controller candidates are detailed in California Government Code section 26945. Since Auditor-Controller is an elected office, the individual appointed must also be a registered voter within the County of Orange and be qualified to vote for that office at the time of appointment. Moderation isn’t working anymore for Orange County’s labor leaders, according to the Voice of OC. When has this far-left bunch ever been moderate? It is true however that this year they have seemingly lost their minds – lining up behind union consultant Julio Perez for the 69th Assembly District, behind the crazed rantings of labor boss Teferi Gebre, who describes his political views, on Facebook, as “very liberal.” LOL! Gebre lives in Carlsbad – a city with an $85K median income. How 1% of him!
Backing Perez is such a bad idea that both Assemblyman Jose Solorio and State Senator Lou Correa, as well as DPOC Chairman Frank Barbaro, have had to remind local Democrats that the 69th is a moderate district. Of course when the Democrats hold their meetings at a union hall, you can’t expect much in the way of moderation. And so Perez is now bragging that he won a strong majority of support from Democratic Party Delegates during a Pre-Primary Endorsement Conference held this weekend. Of course he did! Would you expect much else from these liberal nuts?
Itzcoatl “Izzy” Ocampo, a resident of Yorba Linda, stands accused of four horrible murders – but I did not like the way O.C. District Attorney Tony Rackauckas went after him at his press conference. Ocampo served our country as a U.S. Marine – and by all accounts he was a good man before he left.
According to the OC Weekly, Rackauckas called Ocampo “a monster” and a “vicious killer”– but indicated he’s been “cooperative” with investigators. He also said, “There is no evidence that is he mentally ill.” Really? The Veterans Administration had diagnosed him with psychological problems. Continue reading
