The state’s Fair Political Practices Commission confirmed Tuesday that the agency is investigating a majority of Orange County supervisors along with the CalOptima board of directors for potential conflict of interest violations of the Political Reform Act, based on the findings of two Orange County Grand Jury reports filed earlier this year alleging corruption at the highest levels of county government.
The revelation about the FPPC probe spilled out from an emotional public meeting Tuesday where all five county supervisors lashed out publicly at Orange County grand jurors accusing them of using irresponsible headlines to cover badly focused probes that had now triggered state reviews. SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced today to 50 years to life in state prison for murdering his father by shooting him after a dispute over keeping a firearm in their Huntington Beach home. Jeremy Dwayne Martin, 37, was found guilty by a jury March 26, 2013, of one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death.
In May 2011, Jeremy Martin was living in Huntington Beach with his 62-year-old father Frederick Martin. Early in the morning on May 20, 2011, Jeremy Martin got into a verbal and physical argument with his father because the victim was unhappy that Jeremy Martin was keeping a firearm in the home. SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) hosted the 5th Annual Victims’ Rights March & Rally today in remembrance of murdered victims, in celebration of surviving victims, and in honor of victims’ rights. Over 450 victims, family, friends, law enforcement, and community leaders marched from the District Attorney’s Office to the Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana and laid flowers at the foot of a memorial wreath to honor and celebrate the lives of murdered and surviving victims.
