The Lincoln Club of Orange County’s State and Federal Political Action Committees have issued a primary election Orange County voter guide, and it is a stunning slap to the Republican Party of Orange County’s slate of candidates in Central Orange County.
Why would the Lincoln Club reject them? Well, for starters, most of them are startlingly anti-Latino. One of them, Robert Hammond, got rejected not once but twice – the Lincoln Club refused to endorse him for both the OC GOP’s 69th Assembly District delegation and the Orange County Board of Education, Area One. Chris Nguyen, a Republican blogger at the OC Political blog (a blog that promotes the OC GOP machine, not to be confused with the blog you are currently reading) who is also a staffer at Assemblyman Chris Norby’s office, launched a direct attack today on Jose Moreno (pictured above), the only Republican candidate for the 69th Assembly District.
Nguyen accused Moreno of violating the Hatch Act, which prevents most federal employees from running for partisan offices. However, Moreno works for the County of Orange. Nguyen tried to make the case that Moreno’s agency is funded by the federal government, but Moreno’s agency also receives funding from the State of California, and from local sources as well.
How pathetic is the Republican Party of Orange County? Well, they have only one Hispanic candidate running for the Central Committee, in the 69th Assembly District, which is an overwhelmingly Latino district.
