Local Green and recent candidate for Fullerton City Council, Jane Rands, along with recent candidate for Anaheim City Council Duane Roberts, will discuss current plans for civilian police oversight in Fullerton and in Anaheim. Continue reading
The Green Party of Orange County is hosting their monthly meeting on Sunday, January 6, from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, at the Irvine Ranch Water District’s Community Meeting Center, located at 1550 Sand Canyon Ave., in Irvine.
Ace Hoffman will be speaking about closing the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Jane Rands will be speaking about the campaign for a Police Commission in Fullerton.
“With officer-involved shootings and angry protests in Anaheim exposing its race and class divisions across national and international headlines, Duane Roberts feels that the timing is right to make a bid for city council. In taking the first step, the local activist pulled papers yesterday and has until the end of the week to gather all the necessary signatures from registered voters,” according to the OC Weekly.
This is great news for the people of Anaheim, even if Roberts does not win. As a candidate he will get the issues out and that alone is a huge victory.
Roberts is a member of the Green Party and he blogs at the Orange Juice blog. I recruited him as a blogger when I was the publisher at the OJ blog. Here is a message Roberts posted on his Facebook page, about his campaign:
Decline to State voters in California may soon surpass the dwindling Republican Party. If you are a Decline to State or Independent voter, and you’re wondering who to vote for in the June 5 Open Primary Election, then look no further. As is my custom, I like to present my personal election picks – with my comments of course. We’ll start with the U.S. Congress:
U.S. Senate – I have never been a fan of Senator Dianne Feinsten, but the GOP has never been able to displace her. I suspect they will fail again this year, but I am going to endorse Elizabeth Emken and hope for the best. I like her focus on cutting government waste. And she is a parent of a child with autism – a subject she speaks about with authority. She is also a UCLA grad which I can appreciate as my oldest son is a freshman at UCLA this year. The Orange County Green Party is holding a General Meeting this Sunday, February 5, 2012, at 2:00 pm, at the Irvine Ranch Water District, located at 15600 Sand Canyon, in Irvine. It is hard to believe anyone would hold a political meeting on Superbowl Sunday! I guess the Greens aren’t sports fans.
