Everyone figured that Tom Tait was just going to be Curt Pringle’s puppet when the former replaced the latter as Anaheim’s mayor in 2002, according to the OC Weekly. “But in this past years, Tait has done the impossible: not just yanked the collar from Pringle’s leash, but turned into a great, nearly radical mayor, the type of which Anaheim hasn’t seen in decades.”
Tait has also left a good impression on Libertarian columnist Steven Greenhut, who mentioned in a new post that “After Tom Tait was sworn in as the mayor of Anaheim in November 2010, he issued a statement announcing the city’s commitment to “kindness and freedom.”
Actually, Tait ran on that message. Click here to see a campaign mailer that mentioned “promoting kindness.”
What everyone is missing is that Tait is a devout Catholic – as are most of the impoverished Latino residents he recently visited. His compassion for them comes from their mutual faith. And his faith is leading him to do things we have never seen Anaheim’s mostly hack politicians do.
And it is not just faith that is driving Tait. Greenhut’s column illustrated many examples of Tait’s committment to freedom – something the former Mayor of Anaheim, Curt Pringle, would never understand. Pringle, like most of today’s City Council, is a bureacrat who serves Disney and the SOAR PAC. Pringle doesn’t get it – and he never will. Thank God that Tait has shaken Pringle off since becoming Mayor of Anaheim.
Tait’s sincerity stands in stark contrast to the buffoonery of former Anaheim Mayor Tom Daly – and current SOAR-backed council candidate Jordan Brandman. The last thing anyone would ever accuse them of is being sincere – or caring about anyone other than themselves. (Note – be sure to tell your friends to vote for Anaheim resident Jose “Joe” Moreno in November – not Daly, for the 69th Assembly District).
If the people of Anaheim have any hope at all it rests in Tait. I hope he manages to overcome the SOAR hacks on his City Council – Harry Sidhu, Kris Murray and Gail Eastman.
It has been suggested that Orange County residents start boycotting the Disney Company and Sidhu’s El Pollo Loco franchises, in support of the embattled Latino residents of Anaheim. That seems like a great idea. I don’t know which El Pollo Loco locations belong to Sidhu – he owns locations in both Orange County and Riverside, so I suggest we boycott them all. If you are craving good grilled chicken try Pollo Norteno instead. They have four locations in Anaheim, Garden Grove and Santa Ana.
On one side you Tait trying to talk people of the ledge, as a responsible leader.
On the otherside you have Occupy OC lawyer, and Senate canidate Greg Diamond inciting protesters and watching the violence and destruction of a community in which he does not live. That’s what I call a rabble Rouser.
The only thing Greg would enjoy more is a couple of dead babies at the hands of the “MAN”. That way he could sit back in his safe haven of brea and cry about the poor and oppressed. Ignoring the fact that he and his ilk casued it.
Sound familar? Carpetbag a lying union hack into thge 69th. When he loses hint at corruption. Now we’ll change the rules in Anaheim, so they can exploit the people he claims to be under representitive.
